Courtesy Huntington Bank Huntington Bank, one of the nation’s largest regional banks with roots dating to the 19th century, has expanded its sponsorship footprint in golf. Based in Columbus, Ohio, the bank operates in 21 states and has long-standing partnerships with the PGA Tour’s Memorial Tournament in Ohio and 3M Open in Minnesota, as well as the LPGA’s Dow Championship in Michigan. But its acquisition last October of Texas-based Veritex Community Bank was the catalyst for a heightened commitment to investing in the game. And that commitment owes much to Veritex founder Malcolm Holland. Holland, who has served on the USGA Executive Committee and as president of the Texas Golf Association, founded Veritex in 2010. The bank began sponsoring up-and-coming players in 2015 and over the next decade developed a roster of golf ambassadors that included future major champions Scottie Scheffler and Bryson DeChambeau. “...
