One shot is all that separates LSU graduate students Ingrid Lindblad and Latanna Stone from being Augusta National Women’s Amateur champions. Now they get one last shot to make it right.
Sweden’s Lindblad, the No. 1 women’s amateur in the world, and Stone, the reigning runner-up in the U.S. Women’s Amateur, headline the field of 72 players at the fifth ANWA this week. They will be considered two of the favorites when play tees off Wednesday for the first of two rounds at Champions Retreat in Evans, Georgia. Each has her eye on finishing the job on Saturday at Augusta National Golf Club in what they know will be their final chances to win one of the most prestigious titles in women’s amateur golf.
For the occasion, they’ve pooled their tickets to make sure their entire LSU golf team and coaching staff can be on hand at Augusta to see if they can pull it off.
